As a birth doula, I recognize that trauma is any experience that overwhelms one's ability and resources to cope. From this perspective, becoming a parent can be traumatic for many people!
I offer mindful and personalized support to help families navigate and heal from these challenging events, including birth trauma. With a focus on empathy and understanding, I provide a trauma informed, safe, and nurturing environment for you to regain strength, find balance, and embrace motherhood with confidence.
Through my experiences and the valuable insights gained from women I have supported over the last 15 years, I have deepened my understanding of perinatal healthcare practices and their impact on survivors. My specialized training with Serena Shelley, MA, LMHC and Teri Nava-Anderson, PhD based on the work by Penny Simkin, PT, and Phyllis Klaus, LMFT, co-authors of "When Survivors Give Birth," uniquely positions me to assist survivors of childhood sexual abuse, sexual assault, birth trauma, and IPV throughout the entire birthing process. Confronting a history of abuse or trauma may not align with conventional expectations of the pregnancy and postpartum journey, yet, this is a time that often calls us to greater healing and preparation.
I offer trauma informed birth consultation crafted to guide individuals, including IPV survivors, in reflecting on their past without delving into specific details. The focus is on your healing needs, utilizing this transformative time to overcome fear and facilitate a life-altering healing process. Drawing on my educational background in psychology, practical skills as a birth doula, life experience as a mom and training in trauma and recovery, I am dedicated to helping you cultivate confidence in your birth journey and supporting you on your unique journey towards empowerment and healing.
